Strategic Parenting for babies and toddlers early learning do and don't

Teaching your baby or toddler should be strategic. If you want your child to be successful, then you got to have a strategy.

As a parent you should not:

  1. Leave it to the teacher to teach as they know what they are doing: The teacher has no personal interest in your child, as they have a group of students to teach. A teacher teaches for a paycheck. A parent teaches because they want the best for their child. Do you expect the best learning experience from the teacher, especially in your baby or toddler's early learning years or during their critical brain development years? The least you can do is to start your child's foundation years by being physically involved.

  2. Let the child learn through their personal experience: Some say "free-range" kids learn the best as they adapt to their environment. The problem is, especially if the child is very young, they learn things, be it positive or negative. Some of the experiences that your child learns may not be educationally a positive experience.

  3. Leave the child alone and they will discover and find their way: Some parents believe a child can naturally discover and find their own way. The child can be independent and resilient. However, your child may imitate or copy a wrong role model or pick up bad habits or traits from the wrong people.

As a parent you should:

  1. Make sure your child is learning the right learning method and knowledge: As parents, we should actively select the right program for our baby or toddler by being hands-on in choosing what we want our child to learn. This is done by selecting the education method that is best for your child. Also, guide your child and ensure all the necessary skills and knowledge are taught to them.

  2. Be intentional to what you want your child to learn and experience: As parents to our baby or infant, we have to be hands on. Be intentional and active in their education. This is done by being aware of what your child is learning, what your child should learn, and being observant to your child's needs. You can call thing active parenting and not passive.

  3. Your child's education is all planned and strategized: Like one who would chart out their business and career in a strategic manner, your child's early education should be the same. Everything in your child's education is intentional with a strategy.
